Tammy Quinn (Vimala), Director of the School of Hatha Yoga

Tammy Quinn (Vimala Devi) is the Director of the School of Hatha Yoga. She began her practice of Yoga in 2008 and quickly realized that Yoga was more than physical exercise. Her love for Yoga led her to take the 200 hour “Life of a Yogi” teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2011, giving her a solid foundation to build upon. She is a 200-hour certified Dharma Yoga Instructor in her 14th year of teaching. Dharma Yoga is a graceful, yet challenging practice based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s 50+ years of classical yoga teachings. Vimala found Ananda Ashram in 2013 with a passion to continue studying Asana, Yoga-Vedanta Philosophy and Meditation. She was given the name Vimala in 2017 by one of the Ashram’s founding members, the late Joan Suval. Vimala has also completed a 300-hour Vinyasa Training and is designated as a 500RYT and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Vimala accepted the Director position in 2021 and has offered 3 successful Yoga Teacher Trainings since. She continues to study with Dharma Mittra at the Dharma Yoga Center in NYC and is currently studying Anatomy, Physiology, Myology, Kinesiology and Traditional Chinese Medicine (among other courses) at the Institute for Holistic Health to become a licensed Massage Therapist and a better Yoga Instructor. Vimala offers special workshops and classes which incorporate harmonium and chanting, asana (poses) with special attention to proper alignment, pranayama (breathing techniques), dharana (concentration) and the main fundamental principles of Yoga.
